Beat Cazerdus in Overture
Mours-lineage raid: more endlag, fewer windows, later Crisis pressure, Epikninja on any clear.
Cazerdus is Overture’s second original raid, sitting beside Erlking as a mode you vote on a public online server (size 25). The boss comes from the Mours event-boss lineage, not from the HOURS stage list. Beat Cazerdus on any difficulty and the badge unlocks Epikninja. You do not need Hard, and you do not need a deathless run for the badge — deathless is a flex, not the published requirement.
If Erlking is a sheathe exam, Cazerdus is a patience exam. Attacks carry more endlag and you get fewer damage windows. First-look coverage compared with Erlking is blunt: Erlking hides punishable time and throws unparryable-looking extras; Cazerdus telegraphs, finishes, and then actually sits there — but only for one or two hits. Greed is the wipe.
Learn dash and stamina on the controls page first. Hold W, then Q, or you will side-dash into a shuriken. The getting started guide is the lobby checklist.
Phases, windows, and the stand-still joke
Community videos consistently show three to four phases, not a single health bar with a new coat of paint. A typical Witness deathless breakdown looks like a short opener, a denser mid, a third gear, then a long fourth phase that eats most of the runtime. Another Drifter recording labels an early “final” only to be corrected in comments: the 1 HP stall is not the true end. Plan for a long fight. Stamina regen and health regen are your Tempos — Overture still has none — so a ten-minute phase is a resource graph, not a DPS race.
The punish rule is simple: wait until the animation is over, walk in, take one or two M1s (maybe a single M2 if the endlag is fat), then leave. If you start a full Invader spin into a recovery that already ended, you are now in your endlag. That is how Cazerdus looks “fair” and still kills people.
Read the dialogue over the boss’s head. At least one exclusive attack wants you to stand still; moving is the hit. Players who only watch the model eat it twice, then notice the text, then feel silly. That is intended. It is also the kind of check ping makes worse — if the caption and the hurtbox disagree on your client, freeze earlier than you think.
Drifter auto-parry on this fight covers base attacks and the red shuriken throw in community notes, and not the other extras. That is a different list than Erlking (where auto-parry is base melee only, never ranged, AoE, or red slash). Do not import the Erlking Drifter plan 1:1. If auto-parry is eating the easy jabs and leaving you empty for the real string, turn your brain back on and parry or dash the threat. Drifter remains a high-skill pick, not a skip.
Later in the life of the fight — and in later build talk — Cazerdus grows a Crisis / Chrysys gear. Community messages describe resistance scaling as HP drops, plus a combo dense enough to hitch a machine. Treat low HP as the hardest part, not the cleanup. If a patch has not shipped the full Crisis/Chrysys layer in your lobby, you will still feel the “fewer windows, fatter endlag” rule; if it has, stop dumping damage the moment the boss starts ignoring your string and wait for the next true recovery.
Dash is a distance tool. Notes on this raid specifically say the dash can lack i-frames, so sliding through a smash does nothing. Sidestep, then re-enter. Shiftlock on. The controls guide exists because this paragraph is the whole game.
Hosts, badge, and what to do after
Witness is the documented Normal deathless solo in public video, using a defensive upgrade spread (community kits name things like Ghom’s Last Regret, Under The Weather, Immortal Mantle). If those upgrade names appear on your Witness board, prefer sustain and cooldown language over greed. Subject has been used for challenge runs that refuse potions; that is a challenge, not a recommendation. Invader can take the fat endlags if you keep strings short. Bloxxer can chip from outside melee if your nails actually land through ping. Redcliff is an Erlking tool; bring it only if you already understand clash timing and can live without sheathe crutches. Vestige wants space that Cazerdus does not always give.
A donation-menu ClassCaz swap is the Cazerdus echo kit, not Epikninja. ClassCaz does not award the badge. The badge is any-difficulty clear → Epikninja. Full roster rules: class unlock guide and the class unlock tool.
You can solo this on a public server or share it with a 25-player crowd. Extra people help if they respect windows; they hurt if they stand in the stand-still attack and die on your camera. Leave bad lobbies. This is online multiplayer, not a locked raid instance.
No promo code skips Cazerdus. Codes are empty of public working strings; links holds Discord and ScarletHeaths’ Trello. Scripts are not a phase skip.
After Epikninja is yours, compare the fight to Erlking on the boss tier list, park the new kit on the class tier list, and either finish HOURS mode for Vestige / Subject or start a deathless Timeless climb for Drifter. The guides hub lists the rest. The players hub is where kits go once the badge pops.
Frequently Asked Questions
Codes, class unlocks, modes, and raid questions in short form.
What does beating Cazerdus unlock?
Epikninja, on any difficulty. It is not Subject (Subject comes from Hard Resident Mind). See the class unlock guide.
Why do I get so few hits on Cazerdus?
The fight is built with more endlag and fewer windows than Erlking. Take one or two hits, then leave. Full combos during a short recovery are how you die.
What is the stand-still attack?
An exclusive pattern that hits you if you move. Read the dialogue over the boss's head. If you got clipped twice while strafing, that was probably it.
Does Drifter auto-parry Cazerdus?
Only on base attacks and the red shuriken throw, according to community notes — not on the other extras. Drifter is not a skip button. Manual play still wins.
What are Crisis and Chrysys?
Later-phase names in the Cazerdus / Mours lineage. Resistance can scale as HP drops, and the combo density can hitch a client. Treat low HP as the hard part. Updates land on the updates hub.
Should I learn Erlking or Cazerdus first?
Erlking is the better spectacle and unlocks Redcliff. Cazerdus is the cleaner punish teacher if you already have dash control. Both are on the guides hub.
