Getting Started in Overture
Join a public-beta raid, pick a host, and learn regen combat before you hunt badges.
Overture is a playable Roblox action fighter from Reb’s Community (she_speakslua). It has been in public open beta since 18 July 2025. You join online multiplayer servers with a cap of 25 players, pick a host, and fight through Erlking, Cazerdus, HOURS, or Timeless. You can walk in alone and clear content, but this is not a single-player-only game — other people can share the same raid instance.
The experience is a fan-made spiritual successor to HOURS. The place description even tells you to support the original creator with gamepasses if you want to. If you already know HOURS, do not import the Tempo habit. Overture currently has no Tempos. Health regenerates. Stamina is the resource you spend to dash, swing, and stay in a window. The whole loop is punish-the-endlag: wait for the boss to finish a string, then take your hits, then leave before the next string starts.
This page is the first-hour checklist. Pair it with the controls guide as soon as the dash feels wrong, which it will.
Join, pick a host, lock the camera
Open the Roblox experience, wait for the lobby, and pick a host before you vote a mode. Early footage and public servers commonly show Invader, Witness, Prophet, Equinox, Hot Rash, and Bloxxer. Invader is the honest starter: close-range slashes, a dash-in, and a kit that teaches you to stand in the boss’s face during a punish. Bloxxer is the opposite lesson — nails and spacing — and is a poor first pick if you still miss the forward dash.
Turn on shiftlock (Shift on most PC layouts, or the lock icon if the build exposes one). Overture is an R6 battleground. Without a locked camera you will dash the wrong way, M2 into a wall, and blame ping for a mis-aim. Then spend two minutes only on movement: hold W and tap Q. If you dash left every time, you are not holding W. That is the most common new-player complaint in comments under HOURS-mode videos, and it is a control issue, not a broken class. Details live on the controls page.
Pick a mode after that warmup. HOURS mode is the best classroom because it still uses the old stage order and lets you die to Equinox instead of a Limbus homage. Erlking is the spectacle first impression — three phases, a coffin cutscene, a one-shot red slash — but it will flatten you if you still mash M1. Timeless is a wave climb; save it until stamina management is automatic. Cazerdus is a longer, meaner raid with fewer punish windows; it is not a tutorial. Use the HOURS mode guide or the Erlking walkthrough once you can dash forward on purpose.
How a first raid actually feels
You spawn on a field, not in a city hub with quest markers. Enemies and bosses telegraph, commit, and then sit in endlag. Your job is to spend that endlag. M1 is the light string. M2 is the heavier or charged tool — on some hosts it is a clash, a projectile, or a three-charge swing. Parry is a timing verb, not a hold-block. Stamina gates all of it. If you dump the bar on panic dashes you will stand still for the next red attack.
Health coming back is the big rules change versus HOURS. In the original, a chip hit often forced a Tempo bail or a reset. Here you can take a graze, walk a circle, and re-enter. That does not mean you should tank red slashes. Percent damage on Erlking is halved compared with a naive HOURS reading, but the red ranged slash can still delete you. Treat regen as a retry resource between strings, not as armor during a string.
Ping is part of the kit whether you like it or not. Hitboxes are server-owned. A swing that looks early on a 180 ms connection can already be over. If the lobby is far from you, play later in the animation, not earlier. Auto-parry kits such as Drifter do not save you from ranged, AoE, or Erlking’s red slash — they only cover base melee. Do not build a first-hour plan around a host you have not unlocked.
Servers hold 25 people. That is a crowd, not a raid finder. Some groups stack damage and skip windows; some hosts will grief a boss by healing it. If the instance is chaos, leave and join another. You do not need a pre-made to learn, but you also do not need to stay in a doomed lobby.
Console support is incomplete. The universe branding is [CONSOLE] Overture, yet some listings still say consoles are unsupported. If a gamepad bind does nothing, fall back to the combat verbs on the controls page instead of assuming the PC sheet is law.
What not to grind in hour one
Do not hunt promo codes. There are currently no public working codes. Recheck the codes page and the Discord invites on the links hub after patches. Do not buy a host because a video used the donation cheat menu — ClassDen (Erlking) and ClassCaz (Cazerdus) are exclusive swaps, not the legitimate badge ladder. Legitimate unlocks still go through badges: Erlking on Normal for Redcliff, Resident Mind for Vestige (Hard also gives Subject), Cazerdus for Epikninja, and a deathless Timeless wave-20 run for Drifter by community consensus. The class unlock guide and the class unlock tool exist so you do not spoil hour one on a menu code.
Do not open scripts until you understand why a death was your dash. Client extras can cost the account; they will not teach you sheathe windows.
When you want a target, use this order: survive a HOURS-mode Equinox, then attempt Erlking on Normal for Redcliff, then Resident Mind in HOURS mode for Vestige, then Cazerdus, then a serious Timeless climb. Rankings live on the class tier list and boss tier list. Host pages start at the players hub. Patch notes sit on updates.
If you only remember three things from this guide: hold W before Q, wait for endlag, and ignore Tempos. Everything else — Cazerdus, Timeless, and the rest of the guides hub — is a later raid.
Frequently Asked Questions
Codes, class unlocks, modes, and raid questions in short form.
Is Overture the same game as HOURS?
No. It is a fan-made successor that recreates a lot of HOURS, then adds Erlking, Cazerdus, and Timeless. Overture currently has no Tempos and uses regenerating health plus stamina instead.
Which host should I pick first?
Invader is the intended close-range starter. Witness and Prophet also show up early. Save Redcliff, Vestige, and Drifter until you earn their badges — see the class unlock guide.
Why do I only dash left?
The dash follows movement input. Hold W, then tap Q for a forward dash. Tapping Q with no forward input is how most players slide sideways. Full notes are on the controls page.
Are there working Overture codes?
There are currently no public working codes. Use the codes page and the links hub to watch for official drops.
Can I play this entirely solo?
You can clear bosses by yourself on public servers, but Overture is online multiplayer with a 25-player cap. It is not a single-player-only experience.
Does Overture support consoles?
Support is incomplete. The universe name is [CONSOLE] Overture, but some listings still say consoles are unsupported. Treat gamepad binds as unverified and learn the combat verbs instead.
