Beat Resident Mind in Overture

Resident Mind is the finale of HOURS mode in Overture: the fight the Roblox badge still names Light Beneath Closed Eyes. Beat it on any difficulty and you unlock Vestige. Beat it on Hard and the same badge text also awards Subject. That is the official gate. It is not a promo code and it is not a Donation menu skip unless you choose that store path.

Overture has been public on online 25-player servers since 18 July 2025. You can walk this road alone on a public instance. Other people can still join, steal a window, or corpse on your camera. Treat it as a multiplayer raid that happens to be soloable.

What this fight is not

It is not HOURS with Halt. Overture currently has no Tempos. You cannot freeze Resident Mind, erase a string, or bail with Iris. Health regenerates. Stamina is the resource you dump on dash, M1, M2, and parry. If you learned this boss in the original game by stalling behind a time stop, unlearn that here. The controls page (hold W, then Q for a forward dash) is mandatory before you spend an hour on Hard.

It is also not Erlking. There is no Cathy coffin cutscene, no three-charge M2 clash against a sheathe, no red ranged slash that one-shots from across the field. Resident Mind is a HOURS-road closer: named patterns, adds or projectiles depending on the stage conversion, and a long stamina tax. Cazerdus is the other original raid; this one lives inside HOURS mode.

Route to the pad

Queue HOURS mode on the live place (139020315403627). You still vote on a 25-player online server. The converted road is the one community solos as Invader already showed: Equinox, Bloxxerman / Bloxxer as a threat, Ronin-style stretches, then Light Beneath Closed Eyes.

Do not start Hard on your first account hour. Clear any difficulty once so Vestige is in the roster. Then come back with a kit you actually play — Witness as a generalist, Prophet if you can land Heavy Strike in the windows, Invader if you already know the dash. Drifter auto-parry is a Timeless unlock; do not plan Hard around a class you have not earned. The class unlock checklist and unlock classes pages list the badge wording.

Bring a group if you have one. Public lobbies wipe this fight by dumping stamina on panic dashes the same way they wipe Erlking. Leave a doomed instance. Join another. The game is online multiplayer.

How the finale plays without Tempos

Respect the telegraph, spend the endlag. Same Overture loop as every other raid. Resident Mind commits, then sits. Your job is to take two or three real hits and leave before the next string. M1 is the light string. M2 is the heavier or charged tool. Parry is a timing verb. Stamina empty in a stacked pattern is a reset even though health is coming back.

Regen is a retry, not armor. A graze is not a wipe. A full string in the face is. Walk a circle, let HP tick, re-enter. Percent tricks from other kits are not the plan here; the badge does not ask you to cheese Max HP.

Ping still owns the hitbox. If the lobby is far from you, play later in the animation. Auto-parry kits only cover base melee. Ranged and AoE still eat you. That rule is the same on clash and parry.

Hard is a second badge, not a cosmetic. Subject is the Hard reward. If the lobby is learning, stay on Normal / any and take Vestige home. Come back for Subject when you can finish the road without burning the bar on the first named stretch.

Hosts that actually finish this

• Invader — close-range starter. Community full HOURS solos exist. You live in the window. You die if you treat regen like Halt.
• Witness — ukulele generalist. Shield and Smite give you a reason to stay in the fight when the string is ugly. A public Cazerdus deathless as Witness is proof the kit scales; the same patience works here.
• Prophet — slow spear, huge Heavy Strike. You need a real endlag. If you mash Stab in the boss’s face you will eat the blind spot.
• Vestige — you do not have this until you beat the fight once. After that, ranged makes a second Hard attempt less of a melee exam.
• Bloxxer — carry or lobby grief, depending on who you ask. Stun and knockback can drag a messy public clear. They can also steal the fight from people trying to learn the pad.
• Redcliff — you unlock this on Erlking Normal, then bring clash tools into HOURS mode. Useful, not required.

Donation ClassDen / ClassCaz can skip the exam. That is a store menu, documented on the donation menu page. Rankings on the class tier list assume you earned Vestige.

After the badge

Log Vestige (and Subject if Hard) on the class unlock checklist. Then either take Vestige into Erlking and Cazerdus, or stay in HOURS mode and learn the road as the new ranged host. Timeless is a different farm (Drifter at deathless wave 20). Updates tracks universe bumps that change badge text. Links is Discord and Trello if the live description moves.

If you only remember three things: any difficulty is enough for Vestige, Hard is Subject, and there is still no Tempo to hide behind.
