Unlock Classes in Overture

Overture splits hosts into two piles: the kits you can already pick in a public-beta lobby, and the kits gated by badges (plus two donation-menu exclusives). This page is the unlock map. It is not a moveset bible — once you own a host, read the players hub, the class tier list, and the fight that actually drops the badge.

Overture is a fan-made successor to HOURS, but do not copy HOURS unlock wiki pages blindly. HOURS awarded Prophet for Equinox, Witness for Bloxxerman, Artisan for Ronin Alpha, Vestige for a full clear, Subject for Seconds, Drifter for a hitless Hours-difficulty run, and so on. Overture publishes its own badge text. Use that text first. Secret HOURS routes may or may not still exist; they are not the advertised ladder.

If you have not learned the dash yet, stop and open the getting started guide and the controls page. A badge clear with a sideways dash is a wipe.

Official badges (latest published text)

These are the current Roblox badge descriptions for Overture. Clears can be solo or in a 25-player online lobby; the game is multiplayer either way.

Erlking — Beat Erlking on Normal difficulty. Unlocks Redcliff. Harder difficulties are extra credit; Normal is the published requirement. Redcliff is the Heathcliff-homage kit people take back into the same fight. Walkthrough: beat Erlking. Host page: Redcliff.

Light Beneath Closed Eyes — Beat Resident Mind on any difficulty. Unlocks Vestige. Beat Resident Mind on Hard and you also unlock Subject. Resident Mind is the HOURS-mode finale (and the namesake stage). Walkthrough context: HOURS mode. Host page: Vestige. Subject does not have a dedicated player page on this wiki yet; treat it as the Hard-mode extra from the same badge family.

Cazerdus — Beat Cazerdus on any difficulty. Unlocks Epikninja. You do not need a deathless run or a specific host. Walkthrough: beat Cazerdus.

Drifter — There is no matching official badge line in the public three-badge strip. Community consensus is: reach Timeless wave 20 without dying. That is a consensus, not a datamined guarantee; if a patch adds a badge, this page will follow the new text. Until then, play Timeless mode as if a single death resets the unlock. A practical order that respects fight difficulty: survive HOURS-mode Equinox with a starter, then Erlking Normal for Redcliff, then full HOURS mode for Vestige, then Hard Resident Mind for Subject, then Cazerdus for Epikninja, then a dedicated deathless Timeless climb for Drifter. Swap Cazerdus earlier if your lobby is farming it. Use the class unlock tool as a checklist, not as a cheat.

Overture class unlocks and badge routes

Early hosts and the donation menu

You do not start with an empty roster. Public videos and lobbies regularly show Invader, Witness, Prophet, Equinox, Hot Rash, and Bloxxer as early or base picks. Invader is the close-range default. Bloxxer is the nail kit. Equinox and Hot Rash are echo-style hosts in HOURS lore; in Overture they appear in starter-era footage, so do not assume you must recreate a HOURS secret (heal Equinox during Dark Tornado, trip every Bloxxerman wire, click an invisible Hot Rash button) unless you confirm it in the current build. If a host is already on your select screen, pick it and learn the verbs.

The Donation gamepass unlocks an in-game cheat / host menu, the same idea as HOURS’ extended menu. It can swap you onto classes you have not badge-unlocked, including two exclusives:

• ClassDen — the Erlking kit. It copies the boss NPC moveset and is widely described as awkward without extra upgrades.
• ClassCaz — the Cazerdus kit. Same idea: a boss echo, not the badge reward.

Those two are exclusive swaps, not the legitimate Redcliff / Epikninja unlocks. Buying the pass does not replace badges. It also does not grant Tempos; Overture still has none. Use the menu for testing or for hosting tools. If you care about earning the host, do the raid. The developers already ask players to support the original HOURS creator with gamepasses — treat Overture’s donation pass as optional, not as the intended progression.

There are no public working promo codes that grant hosts. Ignore random chat strings. Recheck the codes page and the Discord / Trello links on the links hub after updates. Scripts that claim to unlock classes are account risk, not a badge.

What to play the new host into

Redcliff’s first job is going back into Erlking. Community comments call Equinox and Redcliff (Heathcliff) the cleanest solo tools for that fight; sheathe windows and a three-charge M2 clash with the coffin stun are the reasons. Vestige’s first job is ranged HOURS mode and any fight where standing in melee is a mistake. Drifter’s first job is not auto-parrying red slashes — auto-parry only eats base melee, which is a trap on Erlking and Cazerdus. Epikninja is the Cazerdus trophy; take it into Timeless or back into Cazerdus once you know the kit.

Rank the roster on the class tier list after you own two or three hosts, not after one Invader wipe. Boss difficulty lives on the boss tier list. Patch notes that change badge text belong on updates.
