Overture Controls

Directional dash, M1/M2, parry, stamina, and shiftlock — the verbs, not a fake universal keybind sheet.

Overture Roblox Controls Guide

Overture plays like a battleground even when the target is a PvE boss. The camera, the dash, and the stamina bar matter more than any one host’s flavor text. This page describes combat verbs first and keybinds second, because exact binds can vary by device, UI skin, and whether you are on keyboard, touch, or a half-supported gamepad. The universe is branded [CONSOLE] Overture, but console support is still incomplete and some listings still say consoles are unsupported. If a button does nothing, map the verb, not the letter.

Read this next to the getting started guide. Come back here whenever a raid death was a movement death.

The dash everyone gets wrong

On PC, Q is dash. The dash is directional. It reads the movement keys you are holding at the moment you press Q:

  • Hold W, then tap Q — forward dash. This is the input you need to close a sheathe window or leave a coffin slam.
  • Hold A or D, then Q — side dash. Useful for circling Equinox and for stepping off a line attack.
  • Hold S, then Q — back dash. A spacing tool, not a panic i-frame.
  • Tap Q with no movement — most players report a left dash. That is the comment under every HOURS-mode video: I held W and still went left. Almost always, W was not actually held, shiftlock was off, or the character was already strafing.

Some first-look coverage also mentions a paired side dodge on E. Treat Q as the primary dash and test E in the lobby; do not assume every host has a second dash bind. Community notes on Cazerdus footage also warn that the dash is a distance tool, not a full invuln. If you dash through a red slash expecting i-frames, you will eat it. Use dash to leave the volume, then re-enter on endlag.

Shiftlock (Shift on typical PC Roblox, or a lock icon on some UIs) is not optional. Without it, W is camera-relative in a way that makes the forward dash feel random. Lock, then dash relative to facing. Jump (Space) is for small elevation and for stepping visual noise; it will not save you from a grounded smash.

Mobile uses on-screen buttons for the same verbs. The dash button still wants a movement direction from the thumbstick. If the stick is neutral, you will get the default side dash. Console players should expect missing or rebound actions until the listing and the build agree.

M1, M2, parry, and the stamina bar

M1 (left click on PC, the primary attack button on other devices) is the light string. It is how you spend a punish window. Do not start a full combo if the window is one or two hits — Cazerdus in particular gives fewer, longer endlags, and greed is how you eat the follow-up.

M2 (right click on many PC layouts) is the heavy, charged, or class-defining tool. On Invader it is a spin or similar close pressure. On Bloxxer it is a heavy nail. On Redcliff / Erlking-style kits, a three-charge M2 can clash with Erlking’s coffin stun. Charge count and clash rules are host-specific; the verb is the same: M2 is the committed button. If you mash it on cooldown you will be in your own endlag when the boss recovers.

Parry is a tap at contact, not a held shield. Successful parries create a tiny extra window. Failed parries spend the resource and leave you in the hit. Drifter adds an auto-parry on base melee only. It does not cover ranged, AoE, Erlking’s red slash, or Cazerdus extras. Players who treat auto-parry as a blessing often run out of parry when the real threat arrives. Manual parry still matters.

Stamina is the Tempo replacement. Dashes, committed swings, and some host tools drain it. It regenerates when you stop panicking. Empty stamina means you cannot leave the next smash. The correct habit is: enter on endlag, spend a short string, dash out, wait for the bar. Health also regenerates, which tempts people to tank. Regen is for the walk between strings. It is not permission to stand in a red telegraph.

Ping changes all of the above. Hitboxes are not a local cosmetic. If your ping is high, parry later than the animation suggests, and do not dash into a swing that already started on the server. The Erlking guide and Cazerdus guide both assume you will miss a window to latency and need a plan B.

Host kits still use the HOURS-style extra slots (often Q-as-ability in the original). In Overture, Q is first and foremost dash, and class abilities sit on the remaining binds the UI shows for that host. Check the on-screen prompts after you spawn instead of copying a HOURS wiki bind table. Vestige wants range and a back-step. Invader wants to stay glued during a punish. Bloxxer wants space. The class tier list and players hub explain kits; this page only tells you how to press them.

Practice order and raid manners

In an empty lobby or a quiet Timeless early wave, drill this loop until it is boring: lock camera, hold W, Q forward, M1 twice, Q out, wait for stamina. Then add a side dash. Then add one parry. Then join HOURS mode and do it to Equinox, whose strings are readable. Erlking’s sheathe and Cazerdus’s longer endlag are the same loop with harsher timing.

In a 25-player server, do not dash through teammates into the boss’s next swing, and do not dump M2 into a clash the host is already handling. If you are learning, say so in chat or just take the later hits of a window. If the instance is unplayable, leave — online multiplayer means you can take another server.

There are no promo codes that grant extra binds. The codes page is empty of working public codes; Discord links sit on the links hub. If you want a host you have not earned, use the class unlock guide rather than a script. Scripts will not fix a left-only dash.

Once the verbs stick, go fight something with a name: Erlking, Cazerdus, HOURS mode, or Timeless. The guides hub lists the rest.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Codes, class unlocks, modes, and raid questions in short form.

How do I dash forward in Overture?

Hold W, then tap Q. Dash direction follows movement input. Tapping Q with no forward hold is why most new players only dash left. Details are in the dash section above; the getting started guide covers the first-hour drill.

Does the dash give invincibility frames?

Treat it as a spacing tool, not a full i-frame. Community Cazerdus notes say you can still be hit during the dash. Leave the telegraph, then re-enter on endlag.

What are M1, M2, and parry?

M1 is the light string you spend in a punish window. M2 is the committed heavy or charge (including clash tools). Parry is a tap at contact. Drifter auto-parry only works on base melee, not ranged, AoE, or Erlking's red slash.

Why does ping feel like it changes hitboxes?

Because it does. Overture's hurtboxes are sensitive to latency. Parry later than the animation suggests on a high-ping server, and do not dash into a swing that already started.

Are these keybinds the same on mobile and console?

The verbs are the same; the buttons may not be. Console support is incomplete. Use on-screen prompts for your device and practice in the lobby before a named boss.

Where do I go after I can dash on purpose?

Run HOURS mode as a classroom, then Erlking or Cazerdus. Host routes are on the class unlock guide.
