Overture Invader
HOURS rushdown starter. Hold W, then Q to dash forward.
Invader is the class most Overture players already know how to hold. It is the HOURS-style dual-blade rushdown host: close range, cooldown shave on slash, a spin, a dash slash, and an Empower window that wants you to keep hitting so the buff and the lifesteal do not drop. Overture strips Tempos out of that kit and replaces them with stamina plus health regen, so the old Halt-and-delete muscle memory is gone. What remains is a greedy melee loop that still clears HOURS mode on skill, and still gets punished on Erlking if you treat the raid like a free heal button.
If you are brand new, read getting started and controls first. Invader is a starter, not a shortcut around those pages. Compare it against Bloxxer, Drifter, Vestige, and Redcliff on the class tier list once you have a feel for stamina. The rest of the roster lives on the classes hub.
How you actually dash
Community questions pile up on this one skill. To dash forward, hold W and then press Q. Pressing Q while you are strafing or standing still is how people end up dashing left and then writing that the skill is broken. The dash is a skill, not a panic i-frame dump. Players who came from other fighters keep looking for invulnerability frames that are not there; the dash is a distance tool and a slash, and on raid bosses it is mostly a way to re-enter or leave the melee pocket.
Learn the input on an empty lobby before you spend a public Erlking attempt blaming ping. Ping does matter. Overture hitboxes already feel tighter than HOURS for a lot of players, and a late Q from 200 ms of delay will put the slash into a telegraph you meant to leave.
Kit, without inventing numbers
Treat the HOURS kit as the shape, not a damage table. Invader still plays as:
- Slash — your filler. In HOURS it shaved ability cooldowns. In Overture you still want it rolling so Empower has something to refresh.
- Spin slash — a short whirl for when the boss is on top of you or a HOURS-mode add is hugging the same stud.
- Dash slash — the W then Q line. Commit only when the boss is not about to sweep the lane you just entered.
- Empower — a short damage-and-lifesteal window that wants melee hits to stay alive. This is why Invader looks like a sustain class on paper and a greed class in raids. Healing only exists if you keep swinging. If Erlking is winding a counter or a coffin, swinging is how you donate the run.
There is no Tempo to freeze the boss while you dump the full string. Stamina is the budget. If you empty it on dashes you do not have Empower. If you empty it on Empower you do not have a dash out. That trade is the whole class.
Where Invader is actually good
HOURS mode is Invader’s home. Full solo walkthroughs exist with this class through Equinox, Bloxxerman, the Drifter boss, and Resident Mind. If you already routed those stages in the original game, the muscle memory still maps. You will miss Tempos. You will not miss the route. Use HOURS mode as the place you learn stamina before you take the same greed into a 25-player raid.
Timeless is a maybe. Wave content rewards classes that do not have to stand in every hit to heal. Invader can farm early waves and then fall over when ranged patterns show up. If your goal is the community Drifter unlock (wave 20, no deaths), Invader is a teaching tool, not the safest lock.
Erlking and Cazerdus are the honest downgrade. Base-character videos still solo Erlking on Invader, so it is not unusable. It is just the class that asks you to stay in range of a boss whose counter, coffin, and late-phase sweeps punish exactly that. Community notes from those solos: healing helps, the risk is real, and several players would rather first-clear on Vestige or wait for Redcliff. Cazerdus has enough linear lunges that a dash can look brilliant or suicidal depending on ping.
Team value versus solo value
In a 25-player public lobby Invader is extra melee. That is not an insult. Someone still has to hold the boss’s face. If the lobby already has a Bloxxer locking the boss down, your job is not to out-damage the nails; it is to not die in the telegraph the carry is ignoring. If the lobby is four Invaders and a Prophet, you are the reason the wipe screen keeps loading.
Solo, Invader is a routing class. You know the HOURS stages. You can practice dash timing. You can learn Empower without a stranger stealing the stagger. That is valuable in a beta where the unlock guide still starts with badges you have not earned. It is less valuable once Redcliff is sitting in your list and you keep queuing Invader out of habit.
Honest limits
Invader does not auto-parry. That is Drifter’s problem and privilege. Invader does not clash Erlking the way Redcliff does. Invader does not snipe from a safe pocket like Vestige. Invader does not stunlock a raid the way Bloxxer does. If your first-clear plan is ‘I will just out-heal the boss,’ you are writing a highlight or a clip of a 19 HP loss, not a strategy.
The donation cheat menu can force Invader if you already own it, which is a nothing burger, or force a locked class if you do not want to play this kit. Rankings on the class tier list still assume you earned the badge. Forcing Redcliff does not teach you clash. Playing Invader until the dash is automatic does.
Practice loop
- Empty lobby: W then Q until the dash always goes forward.
- HOURS mode on a difficulty you can finish. Confirm Empower uptime without Tempos.
- One public Erlking as extra melee, not as the person who has to clutch.
- If you want a safer first Normal badge, switch the plan to Vestige range or a carry Bloxxer instead of doubling down on greed.
When the dash is boring, you have learned Invader. Then go read boss rankings and pick the fight that actually matches a melee sustain kit. Updates is where you check whether a patch changed stamina or dash feel. Codes will not give you a better Q. Scripts will not either. Official links is the Roblox place if you still need to launch the beta.
Frequently Asked Questions
Codes, class unlocks, modes, and raid questions in short form.
How do I dash forward on Invader?
Hold W, then press Q. Strafing or tapping Q alone is why the dash goes left. Confirm it in an empty lobby using the controls page before a raid.
Is Invader the best Overture starter?
It is the HOURS comfort starter, not the highest raid class. Bloxxer, Drifter, and Redcliff outrank it on bosses. See the class tier list.
Can Invader solo Erlking?
Yes. Base-character solos exist. It is a greedy melee clear, not the safest first Normal. Beat Erlking and Vestige cover less suicidal plans.
Does Invader still have Tempos in Overture?
No. Overture uses stamina and health regen instead of HOURS Tempos. Empower and dashes share that stamina budget. Getting started explains the loop.
Should I stay on Invader after I unlock Redcliff?
Keep Invader for HOURS mode routing. For Erlking Normal farm and clash practice, switch to Redcliff. The unlock tracker shows what you still need.
